Lo importante es con quién compartes el plato, no de qué está lleno

2012 - 2014 | Painting, Drawing, Transfer

"Lo importante es con quién compartes el plato, no de qué está lleno" (What matters is who you share the plate with, not what's on it) delves into the intricacies of modern social interaction in the digital age, seamlessly blending themes of food, technology, and human connection. It reflects on how smartphones have transformed us into perpetual creators of visual content, constantly feeding the insatiable demands of social media. This project shifts the focus to the trend of sharing food online as a metaphor for deeper concerns: how we often prioritize virtual interactions over real-life moments, succumbing to the superficiality and spectacle crafted for the digital world.

The paintings capture both the joy of communal gatherings and the melancholy of farewells, with food as a poignant symbol of social interaction, the passage of time, and the inevitable decay that defines the human experience. This work invites us to contemplate true nourishment—not from what’s on our plates, but from the connections we build—challenging us to reconsider what we genuinely value in an age oversaturated with images.
