División Espacio-Tiempo

2011 | Painting

The project examines the relationship between movement, time, memory, volume, and space—not merely as a physical setting but as a canvas for lived experiences. It transitions from the tangible to the surreal, drawing on Einstein’s theory of relativity, which posits that space and time are relative to the observer's perspective. Juan Carlos Rosa Casasola encapsulates this relativity by focusing on the subjective essence of scenes, prioritizing emotion and perception over factual representation.

"División Espacio-Tiempo" arises from the need to relive simple, seemingly uneventful moments by distilling their essence—what remains in memory. The series uses sequential images to depict motion, blending painting with video and animation techniques. These works function as a slow-motion storyboard, where gestures and the organic accidents of the material take precedence over literal animation.
