Artist of the Rugs
2014 | Video, Photography
We all crave to be seen, to be noticed, understood, and remembered. This videoperformance explores this universal desire, along with the weight of expectations and the fine line between visibility and vulnerability. Inspired by the impact of social media in our lives and the artwork "Venus of the Rugs" of Michelangelo Pistoletto, this 10 minutes long video reimagines the relationship between subject and observer, questioning the dynamics of attention and desire - to see more and more.
Through textiles and movement, the work becomes a reflection on identity and self-perception. How do societal expectations shape the way we present ourselves? Where does exhibition end and authenticity begin?
