Heterogeneidad Social

2010 | Painting, Drawing

"Heterogeneidad Social" by Juan Carlos Rosa Casasola delves into the complexities of social identities in a globalized, pluralistic society. The project uses a diverse range of materials and media to create a mosaic that symbolizes the interplay of different social strata, reflecting the fragmented yet interconnected nature of contemporary identities. Through abstract compositions of paper and spatial representations, Casasola challenges traditional visual perceptions, representing how individual identities come together to form a collective societal fabric.

Drawing from Gestalt theory, which emphasizes the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, "Heterogeneidad Social" illustrates the sociological concept that diverse social groups—shaped by varying economic, cultural, and political contexts—coexist within a globalized world. Casasola’s work invites viewers to reconsider how societal structures, power dynamics, and global interconnectivity shape and redefine collective identity, while emphasizing the tension between unity and difference in a rapidly evolving world.
