Find Your Inclusive Creative Space: Drawing Classes in Berlin for Queers, Expats & Beginners
Berlin is a city full of color, culture, and creative energy, and it’s the perfect place to start your drawing journey. But if you’re a beginner, expat or queer, finding the right class can feel a little overwhelming. You want a place where you can learn, explore, relax and be yourself, without worrying about skill level, language, or feeling out of place.
That’s exactly what my drawing and painting workshops in Berlin are designed for: a safe, inclusive space where you can experiment, express yourself, and enjoy the process of creating with your hands.
Why Beginners Need a Gentle Approach
When you’re new to drawing or painting, you don’t need complicated theory or perfect technique. What you do need is:
-
Clear, step-by-step guidance
-
Exercises that build confidence without pressure
-
Time to explore, make mistakes, and have fun
-
A supportive environment where your creativity is valued
My approach is about curiosity and play, to get rid of limiting beliefs like perfectionism. In my classes, we focus on connecting what you see with what your hands do, and create without fear. Every brushstroke is a learning moment, and often, the most joyful discoveries happen when you are open and don’t expect them.
Why Language Matters in Berlin
Berlin is wonderfully diverse, and students come from all over the world. Feeling comfortable with the language of instruction makes a huge difference.
I speak fluent english, german and spanish, and it’s fun to see how people are practising their spanish in my workshops. Feel free to ask questions in your native language, if this is helpful to express your ideas, and focus on your painting.
Sustainable and Simple Materials
Many beginners worry about spending too much money on paints, brushes, or paper before they even know if painting is for them. In my classes, all materials are included, and I focus on simple, sustainable, and reusable options.
We often use primary colors or easily available sets, so you can continue creating at home without extra investment. Paper is frequently cut into small pieces for quick exercise. These are all about process, experimentation, and trial and error without fear of “messing up.”
You’ll learn to mix colors, explore techniques, and care for your brushes, all in a way that’s budget-friendly, environmentally conscious, and fun.
A Safe Space for Queers and Expats
Berlin is a city where everyone belongs, and my classes reflect that. As a queer and expat living in Berlin, I love to make people of all backgrounds feel welcome.
Why this matters:
-
Learning is vulnerable. You’re putting part of yourself on the page and it can be triggering. I respect that and give you constructive feedback.
-
You deserve a space where your identity, pronouns, and experiences are respected
-
Everyone is encouraged, no comparisons, no judgment
-
The focus is on creativity, self-expression, and joy
In my workshops, students often tell me it feels like a little community from the very first minute, and they are open to explore, and connect with others.
If you’re a beginner, a queer, or an expat in Berlin looking for a welcoming art workshop, my classes are designed to help you paint, experiment, and have fun, all while learning the basics step by step.
